How do I keep a couch/ sofa/ love seat slipcover in place?

I have a slipcover on my couch that is 2 pieces (cushions are separate). When people sit on the couch, the back part pulls up reveling the original couch fabric from the back. After sitting on it a couple times, the slip cover will completely come over and off the back of the couch onto the cushions.

Some people put velcro applications on the sides. Some velcro applications have a tape backing or you can sew them on.
fabric glue is another choice, some glues are washable but be carefull with them.

Find common ground

Alternatively, the House Doctor Ann Maurice recommends clients work out what they do have in common. Sit down individually and browse mydeco and interiors magazines for colours, objects and fabrics - anything that appeals to you - and use these to create a scrapbook. 'Out of 50 things they've both torn out, they'll see ten of those are pretty much the same,' says Maurice. 'These are the building blocks, and we can start to create a scheme that they'll both like.'
Make a plan

Your plan should be a list of everything involved in the renovation, and who's responsible for it. Lynda Field, psychotherapist and author of Fast Track to Happiness, says 'When you allocate different jobs, telepathically you're saying, I trust that you'll sort out the blinds. Then, if he doesn't get the blinds sorted (in the way you want), you have to accept it. You don't want to damage the relationship because of some blinds!'

Call in a referee

If you're really struggling (or just want fresh ideas), consider hiring a referee. Ann Maurice recalls a situation where the female client only liked white, and her husband wanted bold colours - particularly red. She designed a scheme using white and neutrals in the background and red and stronger colours for accents. 'A designer is someone who can work with people's taste and also their emotions,' says Maurice. 'In the end, their house looked great and they felt more connected to each other as well.'

Shrug your shoulders

Like everything else in life, decorating is a compromise. 'You might have to give up on pet projects,' says Lynda Field. 'You want a slate floor, he wants carpet. If he backs down on the floor type, you'll have to back down further down the line.' And if the decorating dramas get too much, re-assess your priorities - the health of your relationship is more important than your must-have floral curtains. Lisa Argyle says 'I'm trying to remember that it's only stuff, and a house should be a reflection of things you've done together. I even find myself buying my boyfriend animal heads now because I know he likes them. Now that's love.'
